Fort Pike was completed in 1826 and named after General Zebulon Montgomery
Pike, whose name is also attached to Pike's Peak in the Rocky Mountains. Visitors
can stroll through arched casements and stand overlooking the Rigolets as sentries once
did. Facilities include a museum, picnic areas, public boat launch, shelter and
restroom area.

Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge is a bottomland hardwood forest
consisting of a number of sloughs and bayous. Bogue Chitto is home to several
endangered and threatened species, which include the Bald Eagle, Ringed Sawback Turtle,
Gopher Tortoise, Inflated Heelsplitter Mussel, and the Gulf Sturgeon. A number of
activities are at your disposal, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, birding and
canoeing.

Chevron Boardwalk at the
White Kitchen Preserve

Located in the Pearl River basin in Slidell, Louisiana. The
White Kitchen is one of the last, intact, overflow swamp systems in the Southeast. A
unique boardwalk allows visitors to walk out over the marsh and enjoy the view. The
park is home to several different types of wildlife like the alligator, great egrets,
feral pigs, and has been home to a bald eagle's nest for 80 years.

The Tammany Trace, which connects Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville,
Lacombe, and Slidell, is Louisiana's first rail to trail conversion. The Trace is 31
miles of wetlands and woods, where you can enjoy the beauty of St. Tammany Parish.
The asphalt trail is perfect for pedestrians, rollerbladers, equestrians, walkers,
cyclists and joggers.

is a 2,800 acre park located on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Fontainebleau also
